I'm only going to reflect on the first part. Right now, for me, being happy seems tricky. Because even if I'm not unhappy, opening a few news stories is enough to demoralize me. When the whole world is dropping bombs on each other, I find it hard to put things into perspective. All this suffering seems to be in the air, adding to the burden we already have to bear every day. When the gurus of positivity come to bombard you with “you can choose”. Sounds tough. And it depends a lot on how you're made and how resilient you are.
Legit. I've touched on this in a few past posts and have one in draft form on this. The world has a lot of horrifying things going on, and it's tough to maintain any kind of joy when we tune into the news. The best I can do is just notice that right here, where I am, personally, is fine. I recognize I have a massive amount of privilege to be able to say that. And it might seem selfish, but in fact if we are not okay we're not going to be the best at helping each other, and helping each other and building community is the only way forward. Is the only way we can really be resilient. Taking care of our own mental health is important not just for ourselves but for everyone around us and our ability to have a positive impact on the world.
